Bead Embroidered Button

First Attempt at Bead Embroidery

Sometimes, I get an idea and store it for a creative “rainy day”. My husband is the local Clan Commissioner for the Scottish Clan Irwin (Ervin) and we host a clan booth at local Highland Games. Those are the best days to work on a little self-contained project. Beading is cool, and I love to visit bead shops, but Bead Embroidery really struck my fancy. I decided that I wanted to try a Beaded Button. It was 2010 and I had searched around the internet for instructions; but decided to just do it myself and see what happened. I made 3 buttons and was ready to move on…

Next, after a long time to think about it, I decided that I wanted to make a bracelet. I got these cool skull beads and John cut the back off to make it a flat back that I could work with. Next few Scottish Games, I worked off and on to make something special, but it was a LOT of work. This past weekend, we went to the games in San Diego and I grabbed my bag of beads to work on during the day. This time, I made LOTS of progress, pictures are incremental … Check it out!

Embellished Birds have found their way to My Little BirdHouses

Standard

There are several bird cages and bird houses in the shop this spring and then there are these plain little birds just lurking in with all the other craft supplies that have been neglected lately. Finally, inspiration hit and now some of the birds have been painted in more fantasy colors (like magenta and purple) plus, teeny, tiny embellished crowns have been added! Remember those little jewels that they put on fingernails? Well, they are perfectly sized for bird crown jewels! Who knew that feathers could be painted? Check them out and share some of your bird projects! Comments are ALWAYS welcome 🙂
