A Few of my more creative moments resulted in these great bracelets! These and a few more are now available in the shop! … Oh, and YES, custom pieces are available. Your vintage jewelry can be repurposed into a One of a Kind bracelet… just send a message for details!
I Love vintage Jewelry and sell an awful lot of brooches. Many of the pieces that are in the collection have coordinating earrings (clip-on earrings) and they are all great pieces of craftsmanship. Well, many thanks to my friend, Jenifer, for the inspiration and encouragement that led me to finally make these bracelets. I am relieved to say that they actually turned out as good as I had hoped, maybe even better!
Brief Tutorial for making bracelets from vintage earrings:
Supplies: Variety of small brooches and large earrings (OK to use broken pieces here, since the backs are to be removed anyway)
Bracelet Blanks (these are available locally from the Bead Station in Laguna Niguel)
2-part clear epoxy
saran wrap or silicone mat
Process: Sort out your jewelry pieces (mine are sorted by metal & stone colors)
Select a combination of pieces that will work with one of your bracelet blanks ie: blue
stones with silver colored settings to use on a silver colored bracelet blank.
Remove pin backs and earring backs from jewelry pieces
Sand backs to smooth (I also sanded the bracelet blanks to give the glue more bite)
Line up the exact order of the jewelry pieces and the bracelet blank on a saran wrap covered board
Mix the 2-part epoxy and mount the jewelry pieces on the bracelet blank (make sure that the right
side is “up” on the bracelet blank) It will set-up in 5 minutes
First 6 bracelets – many more to come!
Allow to cure 24 hours ~ That’s it!
The first half dozen are destined to go into the shop tomorrow ~ Tons of Treasures in Laguna Niguel!
