The temperatures in the mid 80’s today couldn’t prevent me from adding some Christmas Spirit to the shop! Frames are big sellers here and I love to add Vintage Graphics for the Holidays!
Just when it seemed too close to Christmas to find any truly Vintage Treasures, this one is on the shelf at Tons of Treasures in Laguna Hills. It may not be there for very long. Check my ebay listing for the auction! He stands about 17″ tall and is holding a vintage feather Christmas tree. His outfit is original and made of red wool felt trimmed in aged white fur. His flannel pants are made of blue fabric and his boots are paper mache like his hands and face. HIs beard and hair are made of real rabbit fur. Inside, his cardboard container is in tact. His paper belt is so brittle, that it was covered with a piece of seam binding years ago. Inside the feather tree, you will see the original gold braid trim and a tiny swan toy hanging near the bottom branch!
I found these Darling 1950’s Santa Claus Display Pieces years ago and just had to have them. Now that the shop is transitioning to a Christmas theme, it seemed to be a perfect time to put them up for sale in Tons of Treasures in Laguna Niguel.
The larger one measures just over two feet tall, including his wooden base. He has a mohair beard and eyebrows, red velveteen suit, black boots, and wooden base. The boots and base are covered with mica for extra sparkle. He can be positioned in many stances, beneath his clothes there seems to be some sort of mechanism that lets him rotate forward and back at the waist. He probably was part of a large window display in a storefront.
The little guy has an identical face and measures about 11″ tall. His suit is made of red velvet and he is wearing white boots! More than likely, the little one was for display inside of a display case. Both are perfect, Retro Santas for home or commercial decor!
Tell me what you think! Are these Harold Gale Santas? I am not the santa expert; just know when I see something that I like! Ho Ho Ho!
Tons of Treasures has cleared out the Halloween Stuff and our Fortune Telling Gypsy has retired for the rest of the year.
Finally, we are able to start bringing out the Christmas Treasures! First we emptied out the Wine Box Display Wall and
started filling it with Vintage Department 56 Village Treasures! Check out the pieces from the North Pole, Dicken’s Village,
Christmas in the City and more! All pieces are vintage and no duplicates at Tons of Treasures. These are mostly from the 1980’s – the 1990’s.
More to come! Tomorrow these should all be connected to power and light up the shop!
Small space demands creativity, so these Village Pieces and the German Nutcrackers are kicking off our holiday sale this Saturday .
